Associate TSM client with schedule from cli

You can define a schedule to a client node from the commandline from your server. This is much faster then using the gui to do this kind of actions.

def association domain_NAME SCHEDULE_NAME NODENAME

ANR2510I Node NODENAME associated with schedule SCHEDULE_NAME in policy domain DOMAIN_NAME

TSM Create a new collocation group

Collocation groups are a nice feature what will help you keep your data located at the same place. It’s really good if you are using tapes so we don’t need to go throw lots of tapes to get our data.

Create a collocation group
define collocgroup NAME
ANR4871I Collocation group NAME defined.

Assign a client node to colloc group
define collocmember NAME nodename

Configure Windows 2012 server core.

Server 2012 is here and it’s brand new fully loaded with new nice features. The core feature is not new it came with 2008 but whats new in 2012 is that you can remove the gui after you installed a full installation of server 2012. But if you install server 2012 core you need to configure some stuff before you can use the server, such as ip-address, computer name, dns, domain etc.

Configure Hostname
rename-compute

Configure network ip-address
To set the network ip-address i am using ifIndex 12. To see what you index-number is just do the following command.

Get-NetAdapter

Name InterfaceDescription ifIndex Status MacAddress LinkSpeed
---- -------------------- ------- ------ ---------- ---------
Ethernet Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Network Connection 12 Up 00-50-56-8C-45-03 1 Gbps

Now you can enter the new ip-address you want to use.
New-NetIPaddress -IPAddres 10.0.0.2 -ifIndex 12 -DefaultGateway 10.0.0.1 -AddressFamily IPV4 -PrefixLength 24

Configure DNS-servers
To configure the DNS-servers you want to use enter the following command.
Set-DnsClientServerAddress -InterfaceIndex 12 -ServerAddresses 10.10.10.1,10.10.10.2

Join a domain
add-computer -DomainName zg.local

TSM Remove Schedule from TSM-node from the command-line

The TSM admin webpage is a slow way to handle your TSM clients. The most effective way is to use the CLI from the TSM-server. If you want to remove a schedule from a TSM node do the following steps.

First lets view what nodes are associated with a schedule

q assoc DOMAIN_NAME

Policy Domain Name Schedule Name Associated Nodes
------------------------------ ------------------------------ ----------------------
DOMAIN_NAME NAME_STANDARD_0000 ZG-AD01 ZG-MP ZG-SQL
DOMAIN_NAME NAME_STANDARD_0100 ZG-AD02
DOMAIN_NAME NAME_STANDARD_0200 ZG-CBI
DOMAIN_NAME NAME_STANDARD_0300 ZG-CONSOLE
DOMAIN_NAME NAME_STANDARD_0400 ZG-CPL ZG-LSO
DOMAIN_NAME NAME_STANDARD_0500 ZG-CPORTAL ZG-MEC
DOMAIN_NAME NAME_STANDARD_0600 ZG-DMPLAN ZG-MOM

To remove the schedule from the node ZG-CPL do the following command.

delete association DOMAIN_NAME NAME_STANDARD_0400 ZG-CPL

Do you wish to proceed? (Yes (Y)/No (N)) Y

ANR2511I Node ZG-CPL disassociated from schedule NAME_STANDARD_0400 in policy
domain DOMAIN_NAME.
